Pizza For Peru, Building Up Economies One Slice At A Time

LOGAN, UT 2/23/2008 -- What does pizza and a Utah Sate University college student have in common? An appetite, yes, but more importantly a cause to help build the economy in the third world country of Peru. Ten college students at Utah State University will be selling pizza for Peru every Friday until their goal of one thousand dollars is raised. The fund raiser is in cooperation with the Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University.
Jesi Dewey, a student at Utah State and the president of the fundraiser has coordinated the project and plans to see the goal met before the end of the semester. Dewey stated that, "this is a great opportunity to get hands on experience with business as well as lending out a helping hand to those less fortunate."
The money raised will be used as micro loan acounts to provide the most poor of people with opportunities to be trained and educate on business and to help set up businesses. The recipients of the loans will recieve no more than fifty to one hundred dollars, enough to allow Peruvians to be self-sufficiant and build a credit history that will make them eligible for larger loans
Another student involved, Scott Grover went on to explain that the money raised will have a huge impact on the villages in Peru and that, "it will open doors to many people, and give them a chance to better their lives, it makes me feel great and is very rewarding just to know that I am part of something that makes a permanent difference in others lives for years to come."
The fundraiser will take place outside the Taggart Student Center on the Utah State University Campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday until the goal is met. Papa Johns is sponsoring the fundraiser. Pizza will include two slices and a can of soda for two dollars. For further information contact:

Write your dates AP Style.

Nice hook.

Focus on the name of this fund-raiser/cause. If you don't it's tough to figure out who is in charge and what the purpose is.

You need a boilerplate.

Keep the most important information in your lead. What would a person need if they stopped reading after two paragraphs?
